The Don Tanner Band Unleashes Explosive New Single “Rock Me”

Hollywood in Five / MarketersMedia

Youngstown rock veterans deliver a driving anthem, set for worldwide release September 5 via Cranked Up Records / Virgin Music Group.

Homegrown rock force The Don Tanner Band is set to make a major statement with the worldwide release of their powerful new single “Rock Me” on September 5 across all major platforms. The track arrives via Cranked Up Records, distributed by Virgin Music Group, and was mixed and mastered at Cranked Up Studios West in Los Angeles by multi-platinum producer and engineer David Dominguez.

A lifelong Youngstown musician who has spent decades honing his craft, Don Tanner brings authenticity, range, and raw energy to every note. From his early days as a drummer through years of writing and performing original rock, Tanner has built a reputation as one of the Mahoning Valley’s most dedicated and talented artists.

“Don is just the epitome of a great musician. He made the studio easy, the process was seamless, and this new track is amazing. Working with someone who brings that level of talent, professionalism, and pure rock energy is exactly why we do this. 'Rock Me' is the real deal, and we're proud to put the full weight of Cranked Up Records and Virgin Music Group behind it.”

Tanner explores ‘Large World’ with new band

The Vindicator — Andy Gray

The Youngstown musician’s second album gets its official launch with a lineup built for the stage.

Don Tanner finished It’s a Large World in 2024, less than two years after the release of his debut, Are You Going My Way — the first time he had CDs professionally manufactured and packaged. After a lineup change, the current band — Mike DeVito on guitar, Jeff Weston on bass, and Giavoni Farina on drums — took the record to the stage.

Starting as a drummer, Tanner has played in rock, country, and punk / new wave bands. The Venn diagram of musicians who’ve opened for both Pure Prairie League and the Ramones is a thin one, and it includes him. Songwriting took hold once he picked up piano and guitar on the road.

At a Westside Bowl release show he previewed a new driving rocker he’d just written: Rock Me.
